Confirmation Program

The Confirmation Program provides an opportunity for sophomores, juniors and seniors in high school to receive the sacrament of confirmation according to Archdiocese of Indianapolis guidelines. The program helps the confirmation candidate reaffirm the Catholic faith which he or she received at baptism. The Confirmation Program starts in September and ends in the Spring with the Confirmation ceremony.

Adults who have not received the sacrament are provided with a separate preparation course.

Christ the King Youth Ministry

Christ the King Youth Ministry is a Pastoral ministry of the church that endeavors to:

Bring the Jr. /Sr. High Youth of our parish closer to God

Provide an environment that allows our youth to develop and strengthen their Catholic Faith

Offer opportunities for our youth to provide “service” to the community

Simultaneously, by achieving these goals, we will provide a spiritually enriching and nurturing experience that will strengthen our youth in their journey from childhood to adulthood.

The youth ministry program is run by the coordinator of youth ministry along with many adult volunteers who enjoy sharing their faith with our teens.

The teens are encouraged to attend our youth Mass at Noon on Sundays.  They are offered service opportunities, retreats, youth rally’s, Bible studies, social gatherings, mission trips and opportunities to participate as liturgical ministers.  Membership is open to all middle school and high school students.

Vacation Bible School

Christ the King Vacation Bible School is offered every summer for three to four days. Every year, children ages 4 years through grade 5 are given a chance to learn about particular events and people of the Bible. Our success is largely dependent on the generosity of our parishioners who selflessly donate their time and talents.

Parish Summer Social

The Christ the King Summer Social is a family event featuring food, games and entertainment. The Social promotes togetherness as the one event each year with the potential of drawing the entire parish together at one time.

An appointed chairperson and executive committee coordinate the Social. Parishioners participate as workers. The commitment of these volunteers is vital to the Social’s success.

Father/Son Group

Our mission is to provide opportunities for Christ the King fathers and their sons to enjoy each others’ company as a Catholic community at various events.  Butler basketball games, Pole Day at the track, and Indians games are examples of events we have attended as a community in the past.  Our goal is to teach our sons how to socialize as good Catholic men.  In the future, we hope to expand our activities from purely social ones to service opportunities, as well.

Scout Troops

Girl Scouts

Each day, in some way, you share in the lives of girls through Girl Scouting. Membership continues to increase as families look for positive avenues for their girls’ healthy development. Because of this, we constantly seek ways to better serve girls through innovative programs. The Girl Scout Promise: On my honor, I will try to serve God and my country, to help people at all times, and to live by the Girl Scout Law.

Cub Scouts

Cub Scouts is a ministry to 1st-5th grade boys in our school, our parish, and in our surrounding area. It is open and welcoming to any boy in that age group. Cub Scouting very much parallels many of our Church’s teachings in a fun and age appropriate way. It teaches our boys responsibility and leadership as it prepares the Cubs for Boy Scouts and for life. The Scout Law is ‘A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.’

Children’s and Junior Choirs

Youth choirs give parish children the opportunity of participating more fully in weekend and special liturgies along with the adults of the congregation. They also provide another type of musical style which is used at various appropriate liturgies.

The Children’s Choir is made up of children in grades one through three; the Junior Choir is comprised of students from grades four through eight. Members are not required to be registered in Christ the King Grade School.

The Teen Gathering

The Gathering is comprised of singers and instrumentalists who provide a contemporary style of music for liturgical celebrations, mainly the Sunday Noon Mass. Instruments most frequently used are guitar, flute, and keyboard. The group is open to all parishioners, both adult and teens, with musical interests.

Servers

The server program instructs and enables young Catholics to serve Mass at Christ the King Church. The role of the server in the liturgy is vital to both the presider and the worshipping community. The servers help maintain a smooth “flow” to the Mass.

Any interested young Catholics in sixth grade through high school who are registered in the parish may volunteer.
