Melissa's Bio

Melissa was born in Washington, IN the sixth of twelve children.   Music has always been a part of her life.  Both her parents are singers and she grew up singing with her ten brothers and sisters as The Wood Family Singers.   Her aunt even starred on Broadway.     She started music ministry early while attending St. Simon’s grade school.   She played the organ at school Masses and eventually played for the adult men’s choir while in high school.

She continued her musical study at St. Mary of the Woods College in  St. Mary of the Woods, IN  earning a BA in Music Education.  She got her Masters of Music Degree from Butler University.

Melissa has been choir director at Christ the King since 1986.    She currently lives in Indianapolis with her husband John.
